Tomorrow I am leaving Vancouver! I can't believe it - it feels rather surreal. It was a somewhat hasty decision, I only made up my mind and booked my flight a month ago, yet it wasn't exactly unforeseen - I have to submit my thesis at some stage, and doing that from Perth will be a LOT easier. I don't have any particular reason to stay here right now, I haven't scored a job (but then I never looked for one that hard because I wanted to finish up - bit of a catch 22 situation). I certainly felt as though 'thesis submission pending' was a bit of a cop out on my resume. So for the last month and a bit I have been working from home on my thesis, I'd hoped to have it mostly done but there is still a lot to do when I get back (the last two weeks were a bit of a write off, thanks to a lovely time with Jess and Stacie from Perth, and some sensational beach weather). Well, maybe not a 'lot' but still some to do. I'm hoping the 24+ hours to get to Perth will be productive (sometimes airport lounges can be very productive since there is NOTHING else to do).
So blah blah blah, I'll be back in Perth on the 3rd of June - drinks are on! (damn, did I say I still have lots of work to do?)
I am going to miss Vancouver, it's an awesome city - it has definitely grown on me since arriving 7 months ago!! I haven't posted much about it, but then I was 'living' here and well, day to day living either isn't that interesting to read about, or is TOO interesting and none of your business! Also I'm lazy. It was the best winter ever and I had an awesome time. I skied a lot, partied a lot, spent most of my time on the mountain ('working') and really didn't get that much sleep, which was kind of amazing as I'm a big sleeper if I get half the chance. A lot of adventures were had, new friends made, etc etc. See my twitter feed for a few highlights I suppose (I did update it reasonably regularly).
Feel like I'm rambling a bit here, guess I'm out of blogging practice.
So it'll be nice to go back to Perth and see Verin, mum, dad and the rest of the family, to drive my old car (woohoo! we kinda sold it (well, call it an option to sell) but it's gonna be rustled up for me to drive for a while) going to try and get my fitness back at me old gym (skiing every day + mars bar vending machine + poutine = skiing is not exercise). Oh yeah, and it will be a freaking amazing feeling to submit my thesis. It will happen. Oh yes, it will.
